
Weston's Family 4th Celebration 2013 is this Thursday at Weston Middle School Field. The event is sponsored by Fairfield County Bank and Weston Parks & Recreation.
The rain date is July 5.
The highlight will be a fireworks display at 9:20 p.m., but fun events are scheduled throughout the day leading up to it. Bring a blanket or chair, because no seating will be allowed on the artificial turf fields.
The ticket gates open on School Road at 4:30 p.m. There is a $5 admission fee for everyone age 5 and older, but younger children will be admitted free. No entry will be made from Lords Highway after 7 p.m. School Road and Route 57 only. Parks & Recreation encourages people to arrive before 8 p.m. to avoid the fireworks traffic rush.
Limited premium parking is available at $20 per car, a charge. Drivers must paid for the window permit at the Parks & Recreation office prior to the 4th.
A mini-triathlon for kids and adults beginners go on from 8 to 11 a.m. For information and to register, visit www.trifitness.net.
Residents and guests can swim at Bisceglie-Scribner Park from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Food and drinks may be purchased from 5 to 9 p.m. at a barbecue by Calise's Food Market.
Entertainment will be provided by the Westport Community Band and by The Magic Genie from 6:15 - 7:15 p.m. Then the Straight Note Chasers Band will perform twice, from 7:30 - 9:20 p.m. and from 10 to 11 p.m.
