Ansonia Man Charged In Redding Home Invasion
A Redding woman fought off her attacker in her bedroom during a terrifying home invasion early Friday morning.

REDDING, CT — A Sport Hill Road resident fought off an early morning home invader, who was swiftly apprehended, according to the Redding Police Department.
Redding Dispatch got a call around 2 a.m. Friday from the resident reporting she was awoken by a masked man in her bedroom. The caller told police she was able to fight off her assailant, who then fled the home.
First responders located an abandoned vehicle in the area, later identified as belonging to the suspect. Police caught up with and detained the suspect, Troi Barnes, 29, of Ansonia, two houses away from the caller's house.

Barnes has been charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing, second-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, second-degree threatening, second-degree reckless endangerment, and first-degree criminal attempt at sexual assault. He is being held on a $1 million bond. and was scheduled to appear before Danbury Superior Court later Friday morning.
The resident was unharmed, Capt. Timothy Succi said, and there is no threat to the public from this isolated incident. Officers from the Norwalk PD and Easton's K-9 Unit assisted in the arrest.
