Stories of the Season: Multi-Gen Service at UU Westport

Stories of the Season: Multi-Gen Service at UU Westport

Please join us as we celebrate the season at UU Westport with a multigenerational service, where children and adults alike join us in our sanctuary for the full hour. It has been a difficult time in our world, and we all need the strength that being together can bring us, especially as we hear sacred stories that move us and remind us how important we all are to each other.

The first part of the service will focus on a story set during WWII, describing the faith and resilience of the Jewish community during Hanukkah. The second will be a children's gentle rendition of the Christmas story, with the full congregation supporting with hymns and carols.

It will be a meaningful way to celebrate with our young people. These stories of old from two UU faith traditions will raise our spirits, even as we all are reeling from so much tragedy in the world. They remind us that light and wonder can bring hope, love, peace and joy to us.

All are always welcome to our Unitarian Universalist services at UU Westport, offered each Sunday at 10 AM, both in person and live-streamed online. Services usually include a time of reflection/prayer/meditation; wonderful music; readings; and a homily or sermon to lend insight into our world and how we interact with it and with each other. The Rev. Carlton E. Smith presides over our time together that includes participation from multiple congregants, guests, and friends. Music DirectorMicah Krajcaleads our choirs. Separate children's programming and nursery care is available during the service, 10-11:15AM. Dress code is as you feel comfortable.

As always, our e-newsletter SOUNDINGS has all the information one needs to find out what's going on in our congregation. Contact the office at 203.227.7205 x 10 if you have specific questions.

UU Westport is a diverse and welcoming religious community, free of creed and dogma, and open to people of all backgrounds and beliefs. We welcome all who are in search of a non-judgmental, loving, safe community to come together to explore what it means to be human and alive in today's world, and how we can best serve one another and those around us, near and far.

Our services take place inUU Westport's iconic sanctuary building, a glorious architectural masterpiece of mid-century modernist Victor Lundy (1923-2024). The building has just undergone a major renovation and is spectacular with its soaring rooflines, sparkling glass walls, set in the woods with the beauty of nature all around it.
