Barlow Sends Off Class of 2012 Sunday

Joel Barlow High School's commencement ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 24 at 3 p.m. at WestConn.

After 13 years of education, Easton and Redding parents are ready to send off 's Class of 2012.

On Sunday, June 24, Barlow seniors will receive their diplomas at the O'Neill Center at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. 

"In previous years we have held the commencement during the third week of June," Principal Tom McMorran wrote in a letter to the Barlow community. "This year our school calendar was affected by . We need a venue with the seating, parking, and emergency support services such as Barlow. We tend to have 3,000 friends and family members attend the ceremony. Barlow is one of a dozen schools that use the O'Neill Center, and all of us are governed by state statutes requiring graduation to take place at or after 180 school days."

"Our decision to set the event for Sunday afternoon also reflected our desire to leave the finalweek of June untouched to honor commitments our students have made to summer work, camp counseling, or college orientation seminars."
