Black Bear Sightings Reported In Easton

Police have received multiple reports of black bear sightings in Easton and on the Easton/Fairfield line.

EASTON, CT — Local police have received reports of black bear sightings on the Easton/Fairfield line. Both Easton police say the sightings have been reported near the Black Rock Rd./Rock House Rd. area.

Fairfield police also say there have been sightings near the borders of the two towns.

According to the latest data from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), there have been 13 black bear sightings from Aug. 26, 2016 to Aug. 23, 2017. Just three bears have been spotted in Fairfield.

The DEEP says bears should never be fed and that they are attracted to garbage, pet food, compost piles and more.
