Brutus, a 19-month-old Staffordshire-mix, is having a hard time fitting in. His first owner wanted him to be a fierce guard dog, before getting rid of him for being too nice.
A friend wanted to save Brutus and took the muscular brown dog in. He played nicely with the Easton man's other dogs, but after a teething Brutus ate the man's TV remote, their relationship went south.
The man brought the dog to the Easton Animal Shelter, where he's been staying for the past four months.
"Brutus is neutered and vaccinated," Animal Control Officer Kelly Fitch said Tuesday. "He's very sweet. He likes other dogs."
Brutus also has a microchip, so if he's ever lost an animal control officer can wave a wand over him to get his chip number and run it in the company's computer to match him with his owner, according to Fitch.
The dog is enjoying himself at the shelter, but he needs a permanent new home. Fitch said it costs $50 to adopt him and another $20 for the microchip.
Anyone interested in adopting Brutus should call Easton Animal Control at 203-268-9172.
