CT COVID Hospitalizations Plunge As Infection Rate Holds Steady

CONNECTICUT — The number of coronavirus infections has remained steady overnight, as hospitalizations continue to plummet.

The state Department of Public Health has reported the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients in Connecticut has dropped to 1,192, down 78 beds overnight, and 728 since the start of the downward trend on Jan. 11.

According to data released Friday, 45.2 percent of those hospitalized in Connecticut with COVID-19, or 539 patients, are fully vaccinated.

Currently, the highest number of the hospitalized —393 — are in Hartford County.

COVID-19 infections in the state have remained steady overnight, sitting just under 10 percent at 9.73 percent.

The daily coronavirus positivity rate is a function of the number of tests compared to the number of cases confirmed positive each day. Overnight, 2,684 positive cases were logged, out of 27,580 tests taken. The numbers of tests and cases confirmed do not include those taken with at-home self-test kits.
