Easton Planning & Zoning Approves Daycare Expansion And Fence Project

Easton P&Z OKs daycare expansion and fence project, delays decision on Rock House Road subdivision proposal.

EASTON, CT — The Easton Planning and Zoning Commission approved applications for a child care center expansion and a residential fence project during a special meeting July 15, while delaying action on a proposed subdivision on Rock House Road.

The commission voted unanimously to grant a special permit for Easton Country Day School, doing business as Little Phoenix Pre-School and Daycare, to operate at 660 Morehouse Road. The approval includes conditions limiting combined enrollment for all programs to 225 children from six weeks old through grade 12, prohibiting student driving and parking on-site, and capping total staff at 80, including part-time employees. The daycare must also install a fence for its outdoor play area that meets state licensing requirements and obtain commission approval for any future site changes.

In a separate decision, commissioners approved a request from Cleber Ramos to build a two-foot wall topped with a six-foot fence at 1080 Black Rock Road. The permit requires erosion controls consistent with state guidelines and mandates that the fence and wall remain at least 15 feet from the roadway.

The commission postponed discussion on a resubdivision request from Stephon Wynter and Fransica Hodges to divide an 8.9-acre parcel at 125 Rock House Road into two lots.

A separate application for a major home-based yoga and fitness business at 248 Center Road was tabled without discussion.
