Police respond to a serious car accident and a dead deer who appeared to be standing up.

Serious car accident
Easton police responded to a car accident on Black Rock Turnpike, near , on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 6:54 a.m.
According to police, Lelilo Magalhaes, 29, of Bridgeport was heading northbound on Black Rock Turnpike when his car skidded on a sheet of black ice, causing it to head sideways into the southbound lane. Magalhaes was hit by a car driven by Stephen Murphy, 46, of Newtown.

According to police, Magalhaes was trapped in his car and had to be extricated by members from the . He was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital. Murphy didn't suffer any injuries, police said.
The accident remains under investigation.

Dead deer
Police received an anonymous tip on Sunday, Feb. 6 around 3:30 p.m. that there was a dead deer that appeared to be standing up in a snowbank along Stepney Road.
Police investigated, and the homeowner whose house the deer was close to admitted putting the deer there to entice coyotes. The homeowner said he picked up the deer off the side of the road and put it there.
The case was referred to the Department of Environmental Protection.
