Easton Voters To Decide Budget And Ordinance Questions On May 6

Easton residents will vote May 6 on the town and school budgets and proposed zoning and historic property ordinances.

EASTON, CT — Voters in Easton will go to the polls Tuesday, May 6, to decide on four key questions involving the town and regional school budgets and two proposed ordinances.

Polling will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Samuel Staples Elementary School, 515 Morehouse Road.

On the ballot is a proposal to appropriate $51,290,542 for the town’s 2025–26 annual budget, which includes Easton’s share of the Region 9 school district budget.

A second question asks voters to approve the Region 9 school district’s total proposed budget of $26,489,155 for the coming fiscal year. Of that amount, $14,030,435 would be Easton’s share, with Redding contributing $12,458,720.

Residents will also decide whether to adopt a revised Planning and Zoning ordinance, Chapter 147, that would create an elected Planning and Zoning Commission.

The final question concerns a proposal to designate Easton Town Hall as a local historic property under a newly proposed ordinance.

Absentee ballots are available but must be applied for in person due to the limited notice period for the vote. Voters can submit completed ballots in person or via the official drop box at Town Hall. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on May 6 to be counted.
