Here are five things Weston, Redding and Easton residents need to know for Thursday, Aug. 1.

Here are a few things to know about Weston, Redding and Easton for Thursday, Aug. 1, to help you plan your day. Check out the Patch calendar of events for more things to do.
- The weather: The Redding forecast is predicting showers and a high of 77 degrees. The Easton forecast is predicting evening rain and a high of 78 degrees. The Weston forecast is predicting rain and temperatures up to 77 degrees.
- Story time: Mark Twain Library in Redding will hold two story times Thursday, one for 3 and 4-year-olds at 10:30 a.m. and another for 5 to 8-year-olds at 4 p.m.
- Crafts for kids: Children going into grades K through 2 are invited to make their own gardens out of jars and bottle lids at the Easton Public Library at 11 a.m. Registration is required, so see the Easton Public Library website for more details.
- Check out the carnival: The Easton Fireman's Carnival is going on through Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. every night at 1 Center Road. Check out the event's Facebook page for more details.
- See an outdoor concert: The Claire Lynch Band will be playing at Ballard Park in Ridgefield at 7 p.m. for free. Call 203-431-2700 for more information.
