Fraud, Snowy Roads, Atop Redding Police Blotter Jan. 21 - Feb. 10

REDDING, CT — Redding police officers were called to the scene of multiple accidents caused by snow-covered roads during the past week.

On Feb. 6, a westbound motorist lost control on a snow-covered Cross Highway and slid into a guardrail. There were no injuries reported.

On Feb. 9, a southbound motorist was injured when he slid into a utility pole after losing control on a snow-covered Poverty Hill Road. EMS workers transported him to the Danbury Hospital Emergency Room.

The next day, a driver was injured when he struck a tree after falling asleep at the wheel while traveling southbound on Black Rock Turnpike/Route 58. EMS took him to the Danbury Hospital E.R., and police issued him a written warning for failing to drive right.

Police reported minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash along Long Ridge Road on Feb. 4.

The Redding Police Department is also investigating two incidents of fraud in which the suspects attempted to open an account in the victim's name. The first case was reported by an Old Dodgingtown Road resident on Jan. 22, and the other by a Pine Mountain Road resident on Jan. 30.
