Saloon To Host Benefit for Ailing Musician
The Georgetown Saloon is hosting the benefit on Thursday, Dec. 1.

A musician who’s graced the stage at the Georgetown Saloon for the last three years needs your help.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, the saloon is hosting an open mic benefit for Gene Minasi, a guitarist from White Plains, N.Y. After battling leukemia last year, Minasi was recently diagnosed with colon cancer.
“Gene is one of the nicest people you will ever meet,” said Nancy Silverman, the saloon’s owner.

Since his cancer diagnosis, Minasi has had several surgeries, struggles and pains, but he is beating the odds, Silverman said.
“The music never stopped playing for Gene,” she said. “He remains positive and busy. Chemo is just another staticy radio station.”

The benefit will feature a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Many local musicians — Petey Hopp, Artie Tobia, Tommy Buddha, Eric Haight, Johnny Boots, Johnny Feds, Lawrence Anthony, John Apicilli, Joe Sanchez and Jeanne Cashman — will join Minasi on stage. Other musicians are welcome to sign up and play as well.
