Handgun Stolen From Redding Residence

Burglary

On Monday, Jan. 9 at 10:51 p.m.  an Old Redding Road resident reported someone had gained access to their house via forced entry. According to , jewelry, cash and a handgun were stolen from the residence. The case remains under investigation.

Eugenio Toral, 45, of Danbury was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after Weston Police notified Redding Police of an erratic driver heading north on Route 53. Officers located the vehicle at the intersection of Route 53 and Newtown Turnpike, near Glen Road, and stopped it on Monday, Jan. 9 at 4:31 p.m.

Toral failed field sobriety tests. He was also charged with operating without a driver’s license. He refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test.

Toral was held on $250 bond and given a court date later this month.

Lee Bossuet, 54, of Newtown was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 7:45 p.m. and charged driving under the influence of alcohol, taking an improper turn and failure to drive right after he was stopped on Black Rock Turnpike, near Cross Highway.

According to police, Bossuet was operating erratically and struck a guardrail. Officers attempted to stop him on Black Rock Turnpike, but he continued on to Hopewell Woods Road. He finally stopped, and blew over three times the legal limit of .08.

Bossuet was released on bond after spending the night in jail. He was given a court date of Jan. 27.

Snow-related car accidents

Three accidents occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 17, and at least two of them were snow-related.

According to police, a vehicle slid off Redding Road at 6:02 a.m. and struck a mailbox. Another vehicle did the same on Dayton Road at 6:08 a.m. That drive, Freddy Arpipindo, 23, of Danbury was charged with failure to have a Connecticut driver’s license.

A third car accident took place on Route 7 at 11:12 a.m. A vehicle driven by Nicholas Wood, 21, of Danbury rear-ended another vehicle, which stopped for construction traffic. Wood was given a warning for following too closely. No injuries were reported.

The stolen chainsaw

On Friday, Jan. 13 at 9:07 a.m., a chainsaw was reported missing from a work zone on Black Rock Turnpike.

Domestic incident

An 18-year-old High Ridge Road resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after a domestic incident at her residence on Monday, Jan. 16 at 6:41 p.m. She received medical treatment and was arraigned in court the following day.

Vandalism

On Sunday, Jan. 15 at 4:47 p.m., a Stepney Road resident reported moderate damage to a motor vehicle parked in a private driveway.
