'Heavily Intoxicated' Man Assisted in Redding

Intoxicated man in Georgetown

On Saturday, May 19 at 10:21 p.m., police responded to a report of a “heavily intoxicated male” at in Georgetown. The 69-year-old man, who lives in Bridgeport, was taken to Danbury Hospital and was not charged with a crime.

Redding Police on routine patrol located a vehicle parked in the Saugatuck Reservoir property along Newtown Turnpike on Monday, May 21 at 1:39 a.m. Officers detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and upon searching, found a clear bag containing what police suspected to be marijuana. A pipe was also found. 

Brendan Ross, 19, of Fairfield was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Those with him—Chris Carney, 19, of New Jersey; Siddharth Padture, 19, of Rhode Island; Chris Brown, 18, of Farfield; and Brandon Kahn, 19, of Pennsylvania—were each charged with simple trespass.

Driving charges

On Monday, May 14 at 8:40 p.m., Redding Police pulled over a driver heading north on Route 53 after a had a suspended registration.

Arijit Choudhuri, 34, of Danbury was charged with operating under suspension and was released on a promise to appear in court later this month.

Police stopped a New Canaan man on Sunday, May 20 at 10:13 a.m. on Ethan Allen Highway.

Kenneth Soderquist, 38, was charged with driving with an expired registration, driving without insurance and driving with a suspended license. He was released on a promise to appear at a June 7 court date.

On Monday, May 21 at 8:58 a.m., police stopped a 22-year-old Danbury man for improper passing on Route 53.

Armando Lopes was also found to be driving with a suspended license. He was released on a promise to appear at a June 1 court date.

One-car rollover

On Saturday, May 19 at 4:24 p.m., police responded to a single car accident on Umpawaug Road, near Parsons Lane. According to police, the vehicle’s operator, Elizabeth Shelley, 46, of Redding, lost control of her vehicle and it rolled over. Shelley was taken to the hospital, and the accident remains under investigation.
