Good evening,

Today marks the 96th Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his commitment to nonviolent social change and his leadership of the Civil Rights Movement.

In a time of growing economic inequality and social division, let the legacy of his work continue to inspire us to commit to building a peaceful, sustainable, tolerant, and more equitable world.

On Monday, January 20th, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Town of Redding offices and the Transfer Station will be closed. Redding, Easton, and Region 9 schools (Joel Barlow High School) are also closed.

I hope you will take a few minutes to read on. Get to know a little bit about our new member of the Board of Selectmen, take in background information on the upcoming Special Town Meeting noticed for Monday, 6:30 PM, at Town Hall, and learn the latest on What's In and What's Out when you recycle. I've always been told I could place my regular batteries in the household garbage. Now I know that's not so.
