Letter: 'Balance the Easton Board of Finance'
"You can help balance the Board of Finance with equal representation from each party..."

To the Editor
The Board of Finance is currently comprised of four Republicans and two Democrats. This causes our town budgets to reflect what the four Republicans want rather than what the town wants.
Various Republican members of the board have proposed huge budget cuts to critical town departments:

$1 million from the Education Budget.
Defunding the Park and Rec Budget.

Among other cuts to the Library Budget, eliminating the positions of three high school students working part-time as Pages. Really, cutting Barlow kids’ jobs? Is that who we are?
You can help balance the Board of Finance with equal representation from each party. Simply vote for all three of the highly qualified Democratic candidates on Nov 2:
Art Laske, an attorney, has served on the Board with integrity and honesty for 22 years. His collaborative approach has him join with others who want to work together to make a difference.
Ira Kaplan, an alternate on the Board, is an actuary with expert knowledge of financial matters.
Jackie Olschan Kaufman, also an alternate, is an attorney who will work to increase community engagement in the budgetary process.
