To the Editor:

A famous president once said, “Victory has 1,000 fathers, but defeat is an orphan.” This has recently been proven true with the nearly unanimous passage of the South Park conservation easement by 90% of Easton voters, whereas those who had done their best to derail and discredit this process quickly claimed credit for its passage.

The fact is, the true credit belongs to countless Easton citizens, starting with former first selectman Bill Kupinse and the efforts of many volunteers under the banners of Preserve 06612 and Citizens For Easton.
