Letter: 'Parker Is NOT The Right Candidate For Easton Selectman'
"We need to trust our selectmen, especially our First Selectman, who sets the tone for how we treat each other and interact..."
To The Editor:
As a longtime resident of Easton, I am both disturbed and confused by Jeff Parker's message to Eastonites. Mr. Parker claims that he wants to heal and bring Easton together and that we have never been more divided? Mr. Parker also began his campaign as First Selectman, stating that he needed to protect Easton against challenges beyond our borders? Irony and fear-mongering are all over these messages.
First, I have never had a fear that Easton has been in danger from our neighbors that we share a border, such as Westport, Fairfield, and Weston, nor fear from whatever he refers to beyond our borders? Second, before Mr. Parker began running and making statements about how divided we were, I had never felt that Easton was divided and needed healing. As reported in several newspapers, Jeff Parker chose to forward private emails, as a member of the Board of Education, to a newcomer to Easton politics, Dana Benson. Before last year, Mr. Benson was a person who was never part of any Easton board, committee, or local community group and had no children in the school system. The recent actions of Dana Benson are what is dividing this town; sneaking into our elementary school to take photos without permission, putting up an illegal sign on HKMS property in the dark of night in camo gear, and his inflammatory remarks on social media. And Jeff Parker, by his actions, is aligning himself with Dana Benson, which is the irony I mentioned earlier. Jeff Parker can point to his history in town, but his recent actions make him the wrong candidate for First Selectman.

We need to trust our selectmen, especially our First Selectman, who sets the tone for how we treat each other and interact with each other in this tight-knit community. David Bindelglass, our current Selectman, has been open and welcoming to everyone in Easton and brought communication from the Selectman's office to a high level. David Bindelglass is the right choice for First Selectman. Understand that if you do not get out to the polls to cast your vote for Bindelglass, as little as eleven votes have lost past elections. Every vote does count!! Please get to the polls on November 2, 2021, and cast your vote for David Bindelglass. Thank you.
