Letter: In Support Of Chris Parkin For Redding Finance Board
"He has distinguished himself as an exceptional chair of the Board of Education during the enormous challenges of the past two years..."
To The Editor:
I care deeply about Redding, having served over the last 20 years on multiple Boards and Commissions, including the Board of Education and most recently the Board of Finance since being elected in 2017. When I decided not to seek reelection this summer, I could think of no more qualified person to fill my seat on the Democratic slate and the Board of Finance than Chris Parkin. He has distinguished himself as an exceptional chair of the Board of Education during the enormous challenges of the past two years. His passion for our town and its schools along with his measured analytical approach make him an ideal candidate. The Board of Finance has suffered for a lack of student-age parent representation for years. Chris can change that and bring so much more. I know him to be an independent thinker with a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing our town well beyond the schools, from wastewater treatment to tree trimming, police spending, and the Georgetown project.
This year, we only get to elect one Democrat to the Board of Finance. Therefore I'm voting for only Chris to replace me on the Board of Finance and hope you will too.
