Man Arrested for Alleged Child Porn Viewing in Wilton

A Milford man was arrested for allegedly using a company computer to view child pornography.

Wilton police arrested a 55-year-old man, identified as John Gutrick of Milford for possession of child pornography in the third degree last Thursday, April 19, according to a police report sent out by the (WPD).

Police said that a person from Gutrick’s workplace, , which is located on Danbury Road in Wilton, contacted the WPD after the person “had discovered what they believed to be child pornography on a company computer,” according to the report.

“The computer was seized and a forensic examination was conducted on the computer which revealed evidence of child pornography. Furthermore it was determined that the accused was the employee who accessed the computer during the times that the child pornography was viewed,” the report states.

Police then obtained an arrest warrant and took Gutrick into custody, police said. Police held Gutrick on a $100,000 bond until his court date, which occurred a day after the arrest, on April 20, according to the police report. 

The charge against Gutrick, penal code 53a-196f according to the police report, is a class D felony which indicates that “fewer than 20 depictions of child pornography” are involved in such a case, according to Connecticut state law as stated on the Connecticut Government Assembly's (CGA) website.

"Possessing child pornography in the third degree is a class D felony and any person found guilty under this section shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of which one year of the sentence imposed may not be suspended or reduced by the court" if convicted, according to the CGA's website.
