Meadow Ridge Donates $12.5k to Georgetown Fire

Community hosts meet & greet with volunteer Firefighters/EMTs

Redding, Conn. – Meadow Ridge, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Redding, Conn., recently welcomed the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company (GVFC) to its campus for a meet and greet and check presentation. The $12,500 gift to the fire company will help to update firefighting gear and other essential equipment.

“We believe strongly in supporting the honorable mission of the department and wanted to express our gratitude for their important contributions to our community,” said Meadow Ridge Chief Financial Officer Mark Gapski. “Welcoming them to our community on a gorgeous fall day was a great way for our residents to share their appreciation for the volunteer firefighters and EMTs who are, in many ways, an extension of the Meadow Ridge team.”

The GVFC brought several pieces of equipment to the community for residents and associates to explore. “We wanted the residents and associates at Meadow Ridge to get to know us outside of the calls we respond to,” said GVFC Chief Don Baker, adding, “this donation will help us stay current with the technology to deliver the best services to not only Meadow Ridge but the greater community.”

The GVFC has nine pieces of equipment, including two engines and two ambulances, and provides fire and emergency medical services to portions of Redding, Wilton, and Weston.

“We were delighted to spend time with our neighbors from Georgetown Fire and were impressed by their skill and expertise,” said resident Carol Morgan. “They are a vital resource in the community, and I think we all have greater piece of mind knowing they are only a call away.”
