New Details In Redding School Board Member Case: Report
Sara Sobel was arrested for risk of injury of a minor in connection with a sexual assault in April.

REDDING, CT — If former school board member Sara Sobel's request to the court is approved, the public will be barred from the courtroom during an upcoming hearing of her risk of injury of a minor, reports the News Times. Sobel asked the court to close the courtroom during arguments on the prosecutors' motion, which would prevent her from having contact with the victim.
Sara Sobel and her husband Jon Sobel were arrested in April on a charge risk of injury to a minor. Police said they failed to cooperate with the Department of Children and Families during an investigation into a sexual assault.
Stephen Overby was charged with sexually assaulting a victim under 13 years of age. In court documents cited by the publication, Overby was described as a close personal friend Sara Sobel.

Sara Sobel was additionally charged in June with conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault, among other felonies. She was released on a $150,000 bond shortly after her April arrest.
