Police Probe Tutor Scam in Redding: Report

Police are investigating after a local tutor said she was scammed out of nearly $2,000.

REDDING, CT — Police are investigating after a tutor reported she was scammed by a client, reports the News Times. Police say the tutor was sent a check for around $2,500 and asked to withdraw the difference between that and her $600 tutor fee so that the student could use the money to travel.

Police say the tutor sent the $1,800, and then the original check bounced.
