Redding Cops Raise $700 for Special Olympics

The Redding Police Department participated in Tip a Cop on Wednesday, May 2.

The Redding Police Department’s first —where members of police departments act as waiters, serving customers and collecting tips to be donated to the Special Olympics—was a success, according to Police Chief Douglas Fuchs.

The department, serving patrons at from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, raised over $700, Fuchs said.

“Rancho Alegre gave us almost 10 percent of the night’s take as well,” he said. “It was a good experience by all.”

Fuchs said he hopes the department will do the program again next year.

“It was a great experience,” he said.
