Redding Man Charged After Mother Injured In Domestic Incident

Police say a Redding man faces felony charges after his mother was seriously injured in a knife attack at a Limekiln Road home.

REDDING, CT — A Redding man is facing multiple felony charges following a domestic violence incident that left his mother with serious injuries, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on Limekiln Road shortly after 12:40 p.m. on March 30, following a 911 call from a man who stated he had “attacked his mother with a knife” and had stabbed her in the neck. The caller urged dispatchers to “please come and save her,” police said.

Upon arrival, officers found the suspect standing outside the home and took him into custody without incident. Emergency responders transported the victim to Danbury Hospital, where she was admitted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Michael Amari of Redding, was also taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment before being released. He faces the following charges: first-degree assault on an elderly person, cruelty to persons, second-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct, and interference with emergency calls.

Amari is being held on a $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 31. Authorities described the incident as isolated and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
