Redding Man Dies in Danbury Plane Crash: Report

BREAKING: Family members have identified the victim.

DANBURY, CT — Family members have identified the pilot of the plane that crashed in Danbury as Mark Stern of Redding, and announced Stern died from his injuries, reports the News Times,. The two other passengers have not been identified, and Stern was not identified by authorities.

A family spokesman requested privacy, stating an obituary would be "forthcoming."

The plane crashed just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning. after taking off from Danbury for a local flight. The plane had been rented earlier that morning and was heading west. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the causes of the crash, which the NTSB says could take 12 to 18 months.

According to the Associated Press, the plane was rented from a "fixed-base operator" (FBO). FBOs are granted rights by the airports to provide rental, fueling, hangaring and more.
