Redding Man Sent To Prison For Tax Fraud
U.S. Attorney David Fein announced the sentencing earlier this week.
David Bohn, 47, of was sentenced to 30 days in prison followed by a year of supervised released for filing false tax returns, U.S. Attorney David Fein announced earlier this week.
According to a press release, Bohn is the President of Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation, based out of danbury. Between 2004 and 2007, Bohn used company money to "pay for personal expenditures for him and his family," categorizing those expenditures as business expenditures. Bohn then "failed to report the personal benefit he received on his individual federal tax returns."
Between 2004 and 2007, Bohn "failed to report a total of $193,492.33 in income, resulting in a tax loss of $75,899 to the Internal Revenue Service."

According to the press release, Bohn has paid the IRS more than $180,000 in back taxes, penalties and interest, and has agreed to pay for independent auditor who "will perform, at his expense, annual audits of [his company's] credit card expenditures and his personal income tax filings."
Bohn pled guilty to one count of filing a false tax return in August. He was sentenced on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
