Redding Police Blotter Highlights For Oct. 28 - Nov. 3

REDDING, CT — A vandalized mailbox, a home improvement swindle, a golf cart crash and a domestic dispute were at the top of the Redding Police Department's blotter this past week.
On Oct. 31, a Black Rock Turnpike resident reported paying $2,200 to a home improvement contractor. The work was not done, but the check was cashed and the contractor never returned. Police notified the Department of Consumer Protection and have kept the case open.
Also open is the investigation into a golf cart crash on Old Hattertown Road on Oct. 31. According to police, the underage driver lost control on the dirt road, tipping the cart over and depositing the passenger onto the ground, injuring them.

On Nov. 1, police received a report of a domestic dispute at a Black Rock Turnpike residence, where a mother accused her daughter of being violent. Following a brief investigation, officers charged the daughter with disorderly conduct. She was scheduled to be arraigned at Danbury Superior Court on Nov. 4.
Investigating a report of a vehicle parked on the road in front of a Longridge Road residence on Nov. 1, police found a 38-year-old man passed out behind the wheel. Officers charged him with DUI and driving with a suspended license. His bond was set at $1,000, and he was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Nov. 12.

On Oct. 30, a Topstone Trail resident told police that someone ran over his mailbox and post, at one point overnight.
A motorist moving westbound on Stepney Road on Oct. 30 lost control of his car while rounding a sharp curve before striking a utility pole, according to police. The driver told police the steering wheel locked, causing him to crash. EMS took the driver to the Danbury Hospital Emergency Room, where he was treated for minor injuries. Police issued the man a ticket for an improper turning maneuver.
There were no injuries, and few other details, reported following a two vehicle accident on Newtown Turnpike on Oct. 31.
A vehicle pulling out of the Redding Ridge Market & Deli on Oct. 28 hit another motorist travelling northbound on Black Rock Turnpike/Route 58. Both vehicles were damaged, but nobody was hurt, according to police, who cited the first driver for failing to yield the right of way.
A motorist moving northbound lost control while rounding a curve on Redding Road/Route 53 on Oct. 31, striking a rock ledge off in the northbound shoulder. No one was injured, according to police.
Another driver lost control while rounding a curve along Ethan Allen Highway/Route 7 on Nov. 3, ending up down an embankment off the road, but uninjured. Police issued the motorist a ticket for speeding.
