Redding Police Investigate Fraud, Theft, DUI, and Wildlife Crash Incidents
Redding police handled cases involving a stolen grill, check fraud, DUI, elder financial exploitation, and a deer crash.
REDDING, CT —Redding police responded to several incidents over the past week, including a DUI traffic stop, a stolen grill, check fraud, a large-scale financial scam targeting an elderly resident, and a minor vehicle-deer collision.
On June 9, officers conducted a routine traffic stop on Black Rock Turnpike that resulted in charges against David L.F. Guaman-Sanango, 36, of Main Street in Danbury. He was cited for DUI, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving without a license. In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older. Guaman-Sanango was released on a $35 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on June 20.
On June 13, a resident of Redding Road reported the overnight theft of a Weber gas grill. The investigation is ongoing.

Police also received a report on June 12 from a White Birch Road resident who said a check she had mailed to a charity was intercepted and cashed by someone else. The matter remains under investigation.
A June 10 report from West Woodland Drive involved suspected long-term financial fraud. A woman acting as power of attorney for her elderly mother told police that approximately $80,000 had been fraudulently obtained from her mother over a period of time. The case remains open.

On June 15, officers responded to a minor motor vehicle crash involving a westbound car that struck a deer on Stepney Road. Minor injuries were reported.
