Redding Student Caught With Marijuana at Barlow

Drug paraphernalia at Joel Barlow

On Nov. 14 at 10:49 a.m., police responded to Joel Barlow High School after reports of a student there being in possession of drug paraphernalia. Elliot Lee, 18, of Redding was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction, and three marijuana smoking pipes were seized, police said. He was released on the scene.

Linda Murray, 51, of Redding was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive right at a curve following a motor vehicle stop on Nov. 20 at 12:32 a.m. on Redding Road.

According to police, officers observed Murray driving erratically and tried to stop her. She did not stop right away. Officers smelled the odor of alcohol on her breath. Murray subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, where she refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.

She was released on a $100 bond and given a Dec. 1 court date.

Four suspended licenses

On Nov. 13 at 2:03 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle heading south on Black Rock Turnpike for a light violation. It was later determined the driver’s license was suspended. Trevor Atkinson, 36, of Bridgeport was released at the scene and given a Nov. 22 court date.

On Nov. 14 at 10:45 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Umpawaug Road for not stopping at a stop sign. It was later determined that Karmynn Burris, 34, of Bridgeport was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. She was released on a promise to appear.

On Nov. 18 at 9:29 a.m., officers stopped a driver for having an unregistered motor vehicle. Nicole Willard, 36, of Stamford was stopped on Route 7 and was charged with driving with a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. She was released on a written promise to appear at a Dec. 8 court date.

On Nov. 20 at 12:19 a.m., officers stopped a driver for speeding on Black Rock Turnpike. It was later determined that the driver, Lillian Dacosta, 36, of Shelton was operating with a suspended license. She was released on a promise to appear at a court date later this month.
