Redding Teens Set Fire, Get Caught with Pot

Marijuana and youths
Four 15-year-old Redding males were charged with possession of marijuana following police response to a brush fire in Putnam Park. Redding Police engaged the kids on foot before apprehending them. They were also charged by park police for reckless burning. The fire was put out by an extinguisher, Fuchs said. The incident occurred on Friday, Nov. 4 around 4:45 p.m.
On Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1:36 a.m., police stopped a car on Black Rock Turnpike driven by a 17-year-old Fairfield male. Police issued the driver an infraction ticket for possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

RPD helps trapped woman
On Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 2:13 p.m., police received a call from an Old Stagecoach Road resident who said she was trapped in her house — as trees were down — and needed to get asthma medicine from her pharmacy in Bethel. Officers went to the pharmacy, picked up her mediation, drove back and hiked through the woods to get it to her, Police Chief Douglas Fuchs said.

EMS revives man
On Sunday morning, police responded to Church Street South, where a man who was engaged in a sporting activity slipped on pavement, struck his head and stopped breathing. EMS started CPR and brought him back, and he was taken to Danbury Hospital.
Burglary arrest
On Monday, Oct. 31 at 10:43 p.m., police responded to a call from the country club that they witnessed an individual exiting the country club through a window. An investigation yielded a suspect who was subsequently arrested.
Mark Avery, 36, of Bethel was charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass and possession of marijuana. He was held on a $100 bond and given a Nov. 18 court date.
Car drives into the woods
On Friday, Nov. 4 at 8:11 a.m., police responded to an accident on Redding Road, where it was determined Robert Demaria, 67, of Fairfield had driven his car into the woods. He was taken to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
DUI arrest
After receiving a call on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1:36 a.m. that there was an unresponsive, possibly intoxicated man in a car pulled off of Newtown Turnpike, police arrested Brian Nadro, 54, of Monroe and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was held on a $200 bond and given a Nov. 18 court date.
Suspended license
Following a motor vehicle stop on Black Rock Turnpike, Wemerson Dossantos, 32, of Bridgeport was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2:17 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without a license and improper passing.
A stolen generator
On Monday, Oct. 31, police were informed that a generator, owned by Cablevision, was stolen from a post on Redding Road.
Man falls out of tree
A Guardhouse Drive resident fell out of a tree onto another person on Sunday morning, Nov. 6. Both parties were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
