Redding Woman Dies After Attack By Own Dog: Report

Police are investigating after a woman died after being attacked by her dog in her own home Friday.

REDDING, CT — A local woman died from injuries suffered after she was attacked by her own dog Friday, according to a report from the Redding Pilot. Police Chief Doug Fuchs said the dog attack set off a series of events which led to her death, and that the dog attack may not have been the exact cause of her death.

The paper reports that the woman died from "very serious injuries" in her home on Deacon Abbott Road. Police are withholding the name of the victim pending family notification.

Police officials say an official cause of death may not be known for up to six weeks, which is when the autopsy results are expected back, the Danbury News Times reports.
