Ridge Crest at Meadow Ridge Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

Ridge Crest at Meadow Ridge has again been recognized for excellence in short-term rehabilitation by U.S. News & World Report. This is the seventh consecutive year that Ridge Crest has been honored by the publication, earning the highest overall designation of “high performing.” Just 17-percent of centers in Connecticut earned this distinction for short-term rehabilitation.

U.S. News & World Report’s ratings analyze resident care, safety and outcomes across some 15,000 facilities nationwide. These ratings account for the consistency of registered nurse staffing, the use of antipsychotic drugs, and success in preventing emergency room and hospital visits. Short-term rehabilitation further assesses the prevention of falls and serious infections, and residents’ ability to return home. Ratings are determined using data submitted by the community to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Ridge Crest has a five-star rating from CMS.

According to the U.S News rankings, nurse staffing for Ridge Crest’s short-term rehab is significantly higher than state and national averages at 5 hours 34 minutes per resident, per day. Adequate staffing is associated with better safety outcomes. In addition, short-term residents’ ability to return home after discharge was 10-percent higher than the national average.
