WESTON, CT — The town of Weston will receive more than $2.7 million in state funding to support the ongoing rehabilitation of Lyons Plain Road, state officials announced.

The $2,714,809 allocation is part of a broader $57.3 million investment through the Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program, or LOTCIP, which will fund 17 municipal infrastructure projects across Connecticut during fiscal year 2025.

LOTCIP, administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), was launched in 2013 to help municipalities finance local roadway and infrastructure projects using state funds. The program offers an alternative to federal funding sources, which often require more extensive administrative processes and longer approval times. By removing these federal requirements, LOTCIP enables faster project delivery and reduced local burden.

In Weston, the funding will support ongoing improvements to a three-mile segment of Lyons Plain Road, a key thoroughfare that connects the town to neighboring Westport. According to local officials, the project began last year and has included roadway reconstruction near the Lyons Plain Road fire station and the intersection of Davis Hill, Kellogg Hill and Valley Forge roads.

Additional work has included upgrades to storm drainage systems, installation of new guardrails, and resurfacing of the roadway.

"This three-mile stretch of land connects Weston with the neighboring community of Westport, serves thousands of travelers daily and holds several important town landmarks," said State Sen. Ceci Maher, a Democrat representing Wilton and Weston. “The state’s investment in this work is meaningful and I'm grateful to the Department of Transportation and state leaders for their support of our community.”

“LOTCIP is delivering state funds to projects that make a difference in local communities,” CTDOT Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto said. “By taking on the burden of dealing with federal red tape, CTDOT helps municipalities deliver important projects more efficiently and quickly.”
