I am writing today to address recent antisemitic incidents in our Town. We are deeply saddened and angered by any acts of hate in Weston. These incidents do not align with our community values and will not be accepted. Hatred in any form will be denounced, and we will not tolerate actions that go against our nation's fundamental principles or seek to intimidate our community members.
The Town’s top priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of every individual in our community. The Town is collaborating with the Anti-Defamation League Connecticut, a crucial partner in combating and responding to antisemitism and hate, in addition to working with the Weston Board of Education and our Interfaith clergy. We also plan to engage an expert in this field to provide guidance on messaging and initiatives aimed at involving, supporting, educating, and uniting our community.

We recognize that residents are feeling unsafe, and this sentiment is not solely based on events in our Town. ADL CT has reported a 667% increase in antisemitic incidents in Connecticut over the past four years. Additionally, there has been a 135% rise in antisemitic incidents in K-12 Schools nationwide in the last year, as per ADL reports.
The Town is committed to cultivating an environment where everyone in Weston feels secure, supported, and embraced. We have all chosen Weston as a place where we can reside without the fear of violence, discrimination, exclusion, or degradation.
On behalf of the Town, I extend our unwavering support and solidarity to those who have been impacted by antisemitism. We are dedicated to providing ongoing resources, assistance, and education to steer our community away from hate.
