A Trashed Garage Tops Redding Police Blotter For Jan. 1-5

REDDING, CT — Identity theft and a near collision were at the top of the Redding Police Department blotter last week.
On Jan. 2, a Starrs Ridge Road resident complained to police that someone had entered their garage, then trashed it. The investigation is still open.
A Redding Road/Route 107 complainant the next day told police someone had tried to rack up a charge on their credit card, but failed. There was no monetary loss as a result of the attempt.

Also on Jan. 3, there was property damage but no injuries reported following a two vehicle accident on Umpawaug Road / Route 53. No further details have been made available.
Two vehicles attempting to pass each other safely while traveling along in opposite directions along the very narrow train tracks section of Simpaug Turnpike were unsuccessful, clipping each other's rearview mirrors. No motorist was injured, according to police.
