Update: Trucker Injured In Redding Crash Taken To Yale New Haven
First responders found a collision involving a box truck and a tree, with one injured motorist requiring extrication.
REDDING, CT — Redding Fire & EMS Co. 1 responded to a vehicle crash with injuries shortly after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
First responders found a collision involving a box truck and a tree on Church Hill Road, with one injured motorist requiring extrication. The truck was traveling eastbound on Church Hill Road.
The driver was promptly freed and received on-scene treatment by emergency medical services before being taken to Danbury hospital with a trauma alert. Later in the day, the driver was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for further treatment, according to a statement from Redding Chief of Police Mark O'Donnell released Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators have determined that, as the truck rounded a downhill curve, it slid on the snow-covered roadway, traveled off the right side of the road, and struck the tree.
"The weather conditions were a major factor in this crash," O'Donnell said.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, along with Aquarion Water Company, were notified due to diesel fuel spillage from the truck.
Assisting in the response were the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department, Redding Police Department, Redding-Bethel Paramedic, and the Redding Highway Department.
The investigation is still ongoing.
