Two Injured In Rollover Crash On Route 58 In Redding, Including Juvenile

A rollover crash on Route 58 in Redding injured two people, including a juvenile.

REDDING, CT — A motor vehicle rollover crash on Blackrock Turnpike in Redding sent two people to the hospital Wednesday morning, including a juvenile passenger who was later transferred to a New York trauma center for further treatment.

The Redding Communications Center received multiple 911 calls around 10 a.m. on July 9 reporting the crash near Redding Ridge Market. Emergency responders from Redding Fire, Ambulance, Paramedic, and Police were immediately dispatched.

Upon arrival, police discovered that both the driver and a rear-seat juvenile passenger were trapped inside the overturned vehicle. Fire personnel extricated both people, and they were taken to Danbury Hospital. The driver sustained injuries. The juvenile passenger suffered serious injuries and was transferred to New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.

According to preliminary findings, the vehicle had been traveling southbound on Blackrock Turnpike when it crossed the northbound lane, struck a tree, and rolled onto its passenger side.

The crash remains under investigation by the Redding Police Department’s crash investigation team, with assistance from the Fairfield Police Department’s accident reconstruction unit. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Officer Lopiano at 203-938-3400.
