Weston Bird Hoarder 'Devoted Life to Animals', Attorney Says: Report

More than 200 exotic birds, reptiles and snakes were found either dead or in poor condition in his home in 2016.

WESTON, CT — A Weston man who was described by his attorney as "devoting his life to animals" was ordered to attend weekly therapy sessions by a Norwalk Superior Court judge Wednesday, according to the Weston Forum. Daniel Kopulos must attend the sessions, meet with a psychiatrist every month and avoid arrests during that time.

Kopulos' attorney said that his client initially cared well for the animals, but then entered a state of depression after traumatic life experiences.

Patch reported in September police discovered over 200 birds, reptiles and snakes both alive and dead in a Weston home after neighbors reported a foul smell coming from the home which Weston Animal Control said was one of the worst cases of animal cruelty that they’ve ever seen.
