Weston Firefighters Douse Brush Fire

Recent dry weather has led to high risk for forest fires statewide, according to the Fire Department.

WESTON, CT — Firefighters extinguished a brush fire in the area of High Noon Road Tuesday afternoon.

The Weston Fire Department was dispatched to the area around 3:32 p.m. on a report of an outdoor smoke condition. Firefighters found an active fire on property which backs up to Aspetuck Hill Lane.

The brush fire was about 500 by 100 feet in area, and it had extended to a shed and was close to several additional structures, according to the department. Firefighters extinguished the fire before it could spread any further.

The forest fire danger level is currently high for the entire state. Local burn permits are suspended until weather conditions improve, Weston fire officials said.
