Weston First Selectman Requesting Leave for Mental Health Illness

Weston First Selectman's family want to explain their mother's erratic behavior and why she is requesting an extended leave.

WESTON, CT — First Selectman Nina Daniel will request a four-week medical leave of absence due to an ongoing mental health problem, according to the Weston Forum. Her family said they wanted to explain their mother’s erratic behavior.

According to the family, Daniel has had a history of mental illness dating back 40 years and periodically has delusional episodes, the paper reported. Daniel announced she was taking a two-week extended vacation on Aug. 30, and announced she was taking a medical leave of absence until Oct. 3, the report stated. Selectman Dennis Tracey is serving as interim first selectman during her absence.
