Weston Police Begin Toys for Tots Drive
The following is a press release sent by Officer Chris Powers and was written by Henry Norley, area chairman of the Marine Corps League.

The 2011 Weston Toys For Tots Campaign kicks off this week. Authorized drop off points in Weston include the Weston Police Department at 56 Norfield Road and Weston High School at 115 School Road. New unwrapped toys will be accepted until Dec. 19.
The website to make a monetary donation or to sign up to be a toy drop off location is toysfortots.org. Monetary donations can be placed at the website and marked to be credited back to the Weston campaign. Doing it this way insures that the donation will be used to purchase toys locally and that the toys we purchase locally will go to needy kids in our part of Fairfield County. Our donations were off last year but we still managed to distribute almost 16,000 toys for the benefit of almost 8,000 kids in our designated area in Fairfield County.
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation enjoys one of the very best program to support ratios within the nonprofit world; 98:2. This means that over 98% of your donation goes to our mission of providing toys, books and other gifts to less fortunate children. The two percent spent on support principally covers fundraising expenses — not one donated dollar goes to pay for salaries or any other manpower costs. Out of nearly two million nonprofit organizations in the United States, the Foundation was ranked #72 in the 2010 Philanthropy 400 published by the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
