On Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 8:30 a.m., police responded to a three-car accident on Georgetown Road, near Hillside Road North.
According to police, Shermett Bennett, 28, of Bridgeport was driving a Honda Accord southbound on Georgetown Road, near Langner lane when she reached for something and her vehicle drifted. Bennett crossed over the double yellow line and struck the driver's side of a Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Audrey Tassitano, 49, of Milford.
During the impact, police said, the left front tire of Bennett's vehicle got stuck in the left rear wheel hub of Tassitano's vehicle, which ultimately ripped off that vehicle's rear axle. Tassitano's vehicle spun counterclockwise, eventually coming to rest after hitting a stop sign off the shoulder of the road.

After Bennett's car got freed from entanglement with Tassitano's, it bounced off, hitting the passenger side of a Lincoln Aviator driven by Wendi Mammone, 38, of Milford. Mammone's vehicle was stopped at the time of impact and did not move because of it, and Bennett's vehicle came to rest in a snowbank.
Both Bennett and Tassitano were collared and boarded and taken to Norwalk Hospital by Weston EMS. Mammone and a passenger were taken to Norwalk Hospital. None of the four involved in the crash appeared to have evident injuries, police said.
