FIRST SELECTWOMAN’S OPENING NOTE
We are honored to announce that the Weston Senior Activities Center and the Weston Human Services Department have been officially designated as a Southwestern Connecticut Focal Point by the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging (SWCAA)! This prestigious designation recognizes our unwavering commitment to serving older adults and their families in the Weston community.

According to the Older Americans Act, a Focal Point is a highly visible, trusted organization where older adults, families, and caregivers can turn for information, access to services, and community support. It is both a hub for aging services and a symbol of a community’s dedication to its older residents.

This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work, dedication, and compassion of our Senior Center and Human Services staff, whose daily efforts make Weston a more supportive and inclusive place for aging well. We are proud to serve as a central, accessible, and empathetic resource—and grateful to SWCAA for this meaningful recognition.

NO CASH PAYMENTS ACCEPTED AT TRANSFER STATION STARTING JULY 1
As of July 1, 2025, the Transfer station will only accept credit cards, debit cards, checks, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Cash will no longer be accepted.

DOG LICENSING 🐶
Dog licenses are due! All dogs six months or older must be licensed annually by the Town Clerk. Dogs must wear the tag at all times, not only are licenses required, they can help quickly reunite a lost pet with their family. Cost: $8.00 for a spayed or neutered dog otherwise it's $19.00 (cash or check only)

WESTON 2025 ROAD PAVING PROGRAM
Crews from the Town of Weston Department of Public Works are preparing our roads for paving this summer. This work includes cleaning and repairing existing storm water catch basins and replacing the basin tops. We appreciate your patience as this work progresses. Please use caution when driving through these road work zones.

FLAG DISPOSAL BIN AT THE TRANSFER STATION

There is now a Flag Disposal Bin at the Weston Transfer Station. The bin was created by Joe Travers, as part of his Eagle Scout Project. The bin is located near the brick administration building (see pictures below). Click here for more information about the mission of his project and answers to frequently asked questions. Congratulations and thank you for this great addition to our Transfer Station!

WESTON TOWN GREEN NATIVE GARDENS
Every week a new explosion of color to check out, pleasing our pollinators and birds as well as Westonites! Most of the plants serve as larval hosts for many butterflies and are a valuable food source for bees and butterflies!

WESTON DOG PARK IS OPEN!
22 Lords Highway East
Please Bring your pooch and water. Please see all the Dog Park Rules here: https://www.westonct.gov/home/showdocument?id=14765&t=638816933838200126. This project utilizes 7% of the entire Moore Property -- land that was purchased by the Town more than two decades ago for $2.3 million, specifically for municipal use. The dog park construction, design, and first few years of maintenance are funded with grants (ARPA, access way and parking & Greyledge plantings), gifts from private individuals through the Weston Dog Park 501c3, as well as a contribution in memory of Brian Gordon, our former second Selectman who passed away in 2018. Recent improvements have included fixing a hole near the fence and amended opening hours, which will be at 7:30am.

LYONS PLAIN ROAD REHABILITATION

VALLEY FORGE ROAD
The purpose of this project is to protect and preserve the Valley Forge Road corridor in terms of both infrastructure asset management and neighborhood quality of life. The project limits extend from Kellogg Hill Road to Bradley Road. The project includes many improvements which extend beyond just new pavement. The project has been developed to address not only deteriorated pavement conditions but also erosion to the roadside embankments, noted drainage concerns in select areas and at various culvert crossings, and safety concerns related to failing or inadequate guardrail and existing roadway alignment which provides inadequate sightline distances for drivers. Provisions for traffic calming are also included to encourage drivers to reduce traveling speeds along the roadway. All of these improvements are intended to preserve and protect not only the roadway but also the abutting properties and quality of life for the Valley Forge Road neighborhood. WESTON CONNECTIONS ART EXHIBIT

Looking for something FREE to do this July? Celebrate the arts and community at the Weston Connections Art Exhibit at the Weston Public Library. With over 55 artists represented, the talent and creativity which Weston and neighboring towns are known for, is on full display.

“We put out a call for artists and weren’t sure how many would respond. We’re delighted to have had so many submissions” commented Cindy Wagner, professional portrait artist and member of the Weston Commission for the Arts. “The variety and quality of the work surpassed our expectations,” said fellow Commission member Nancy Klein. Two art classes are scheduled during July as well: a drawing/painting class for adults on Saturday, July 12th, and a class for children on Saturday, July 26th. Summer Reading at the Library - Color Our World!
Thru August 15
Join us for great programs and reading challenges this summer. Summer Reading begins on June 20 and is not just for kids! Earn badges through the Beanstack app by logging reading, leaving book reviews, or completing activities. Badges then translate to raffle tickets which can be entered at the Library for a chance to win prizes. If you’ve already signed up for Beanstack, use the same login to sign up for this year’s challenge. You can also earn the 2025 Summer Reading Golden Collectors Coin by completing challenges such as the Color Our World Weston-wide Scavenger Hunt (request one at the front desk)!

  The Reassurance Program is a list of Weston residents who would like to be called by an employee of the Weston Social Services Dept in times of Town emergencies or inclement weather. We encourage those who live alone, don't drive, or have medical needs to register as this list is also shared with Emergency Responders in times of Town emergencies. • The Assessment Program at Silver Hill Hospital
  We are pleased to announce our continued partnership with Silver Hill Hospital, the Town of New Canaan, and most recently, the Town of Westport to provide Weston residents of all ages with timely, comprehensive mental health assessments and personalized referrals for ongoing care. These assessments will remain available at no cost to Weston residents. This program was initially funded through ARPA grants and will receive future funding from the opioid settlement fund. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TOWN BOARDS
The following appointed boards have positions available: Commission on Aging, Board of Assessment Appeals Alternate, Commission for the Arts, Beautification Committee, Building Committee, Board of Ethics, Historic District Commission Alternate, Children & Youth Commission, Marketing & Communications Committee, Panel of Moderators, Sustainable Weston, Veterans Affairs Committee. The Town of Weston Board of Selectmen will conduct interviews of candidates for appointed boards, commissions and committees in private, unless the candidate requests that the interview occur in public. Through the CT Freedom of Information Act, the state legislature expressly allows the Town Board of Selectmen to hold non-public executive sessions to discuss “the appointment, employment, performance, evaluation, health or dismissal of a public officer or employee." C.G.S. § 1-200 (6)(a). Like Weston, several nearby municipalities have also implemented similar policies to protect residents interested in volunteering their service from the abuse of modern technology such as artificial intelligence, social media, and personal identity theft.
