FIRST SELECTWOMAN’S OPENING NOTE
The Town of Weston’s Human Services Department is monitoring the ongoing federal government shutdown and its potential impact on residents who rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that November SNAP benefits will not be issued if the shutdown continues into November. We understand this may cause concern for families and individuals managing limited resources. You are not alone. Weston's community of partners are here to help ensure that no resident goes without food or essential support. Please follow the link HERE to see how to get support AND how to support those in need.

    LYONS PLAIN RD REHABILITATION
The Town conducted a semi-final inspection on August 20th of the roadway rehabilitation on Lyons Plain Rd done by Grasso Construction to compile a list of remaining restoration items along the corridor to close out the project. The Town is currently waiting on dates from Grasso when this work will be done although work is expected to occur within the next few weeks. Work to be completed includes items such as repair to damaged mailboxes, removal of remaining erosion & sediment controls, repair to damaged sections of asphalt, repair to areas of roadside erosion, replacement of speed limit signs, regrading, placing of topsoil, and seeding of disturbed areas of lawn, and filling and seeding of holes left by removal of existing guiderail posts. Additionally, at the request of project abutters, the Town has received a cost estimate to paint the newly installed metal beam guardrail. The estimated cost for this work is $80,000 and Town staff intend to include this cost as a line item in the upcoming FY27 Budget. If approved, the work would be formally procured and performed after the start of FY27 beginning July 1, 2026. We appreciate the patience of all project abutters while we await the final restoration and if you have any specific concerns you may contact Victoria Houle, at wickedhoule@gmail.com.

    VALLEY FORGE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION
The Town is waiting on a cost estimate proposal for the inclusion of stop sign warrant analyses and reconfiguration evaluations of both the intersection at Stagecoach Rd and Old Redding Road. A revised application to the IWWC will not be submitted until after potential roadway changes are fully evaluated. While in-person meetings with abutting property owners have currently been put on hold, these meetings will resume upon resubmission to the IWWC and all property owners are reminded that they will be afforded the opportunity to meet and/or ask questions prior to construction activities beginning and granting of any temporary rights for work on private property. We appreciate the patience of all project abutters and if you have any specific concerns you may contact Victoria Houle, at wickedhoule@gmail.com. Please click here for a fully detailed description of the project, funding, information sessions and timeline.
