When Scam Artists Call, Easton Residents Hang Up

Two Easton residents hung up on callers when they realized they were being targeted for scams.

Suspecting fraud, the homeowner told police she hung up on the caller.


In another incident, a Sport Hill Parkway woman answered her phone and heard a voice at the other end say, "Hi grandma!"

The woman is not a grandmother, so she hung up on the caller.

These are two popular scams. In the first one, someone calls people saying they have a computer virus but it could be fixed if they provide their log on information and Social Security number. In the other one, a criminal pretends to be a grandchild in trouble who needs money to be wired right away.
