2 Injured In 2-Car Westport Crash: Fire Officials

The crash occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of Saugatuck and Riverside avenues.

WESTPORT, CT — Two people suffered injuries Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Saugatuck and Riverside avenues in Westport, according to fire officials.

The driver of one of the vehicles was trapped inside by the crash and had to be extricated by firefighters. Battery-powered cutters and spreaders were used to safely gain access to the patient.

Both injured people were transported to an area hospital for treatment, and fire officials said that the injuries they sustained are not considered to be a threat to their lives.

The crash is under investigation by the Westport Police Department, and officers provided traffic control Tuesday morning to ensure the safety of the scene, according to fire officials.
