Westport is hosting a Community Hanukkah Candle Lighting at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the corner of Post Road East and Main Street.
WESTPORT, CT — Westport First Selectman Kevin Christie issued a statement Tuesday about the antisemitic violence in Australia, as the town prepares to host its Community Hanukkah Candle Lighting on Tuesday.
"As Westport marks the beginning of Hanukkah, we do so with reflection and resolve, in light of the horrific antisemitic violence in Australia," Christie said. "We stand with the Jewish community here in Westport and around the world.
"Hanukkah reminds us of resilience, the triumph of light over darkness, and the miracle of perseverance. In moments like these, coming together as a community matters."
Westport officials invite the community to join clergy from Westport congregations for the Community Hanukkah Candle Lighting at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, in downtown Westport at the corner of Post Road East and Main Street.
