"Eyewitnesses reported that after the vehicle crashed, the two occupants immediately exited it and began to walk away from the scene," wrote Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso in a statement. "A description was provided, and both these individuals were located and detained by the responding officers. It was further determined that the crash had occurred in Westport on Beachside Avenue near the intersection with Sasco Creek Road."
The witnesses said the wrecked vehicle was seen speeding eastbound on Beachside Avenue when it overshot a curve and crashed into a concrete bridge and attached guardrail.

Westport police soon discovered that the vehicle had been stolen earlier that morning from the train station, though the theft had not yet been reported.
"The car had reportedly been left by the owner with a spare key fob inside of it," Prezioso said.
Both suspects were taken into custody; Lopez was held in lieu of bail of $5,000, and was scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday. The juvenile was released to a parent, and is scheduled to appear in juvenile court at a later date.
